Kelley Latta grew up in church and almost missed knowing Jesus. After a radical encounter with His love at 26, she realized that many of her beliefs about Christianity didn’t match up with Jesus’ teachings. Compelled into the Word to discover truth for herself, she encountered Jesus through its pages and finally experienced the transforming power of grace. Now she equips others to live the promises of Scripture as a Bible teacher, author, sister, and mentor.

Burdened by watching Christians overcome by their current circumstances and locked in the pain of their past, Kelley set out to strengthen and disciple the body of Christ into wholeness. She launched Kelley Latta Ministries in 2011 to teach the Word of God and awaken authentic intimacy with Jesus Christ. Her blog, Kelley’s Word on Wednesday, connects readers to the heart of God, and guides them into aligning with Kingdom Truth so they can experience the divine power that flows through His promises.

In 2015, KLM launched its Love LIVES outreach as a practical means to love the broken into healing. Recognizing the significance of godly community to restoration, KLM also provides opportunities to strengthen and encourage people into living their divine identity through mentoring appointments, healing community groups, and Soul Care counseling sessions. Through the beauty of community, Kelley believes that we can grow into the best version of ourselves as we willingly pour into others and receive from their unique gifts.

Kelley’s books also lead readers to encounter Christ through the Scriptures. Tested by Fire, a four-week interactive Bible study, positions readers to discover their God-given purpose. Her 40-day devotional, Conversations with God, teaches readers how to reflect on God’s Word and respond to His voice. Her latest study, Ignite, journeys with Jesus through the seven ways He shed His blood so believers can fully operate in the power He poured out through His suffering.

Kelley joyfully shares her own faith adventure with her husband, Steve, in South Central PA. They love to laugh, to travel, and to share God’s blessings with each other and the people around them. They have two grown sons and a wonderful daughter-in-love, and they cherish the times when they can all be together. The rest of the time, they share their empty nest with their 8-year-old mini-Aussie, Jack, who keeps them laughing and the squirrels running.

A Word From Kelley…

Have you ever wondered if you were just missing something? If there’s supposed to be more? You go to church. You fellowship with other Christians. You’ve learned the Bible stories. Yet there’s still a void in your heart you can’t quite name.  You’ve heard that life in Christ is the path to abundant joy, yet that joy has apparently determined to elude you. You’ve been taught about a peace that transcends your understanding and comforts you in difficult circumstances, but you have yet to experience it. As you hear Scripture claim you are a new creation, you’re thankful no one can see what’s really going on inside.

If that’s you, I can relate. I share your story. I spent 20 years under the banner of Christianity striving to be what God desired me to be. I knew I was supposed to take on the righteousness of Christ, but I didn’t know how to make it happen so I did my best to change myself. Noticeably absent from my life was joy, and my striving felt like an oppressive chain, rather than the Biblical promise of freedom in Christ.

Then I discovered the truth of John 5:39-40:  “You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life.  These are the Scriptures that testify about Me, yet you refuse to come to Me to have life.”

I had neglected coming to Jesus Himself. I hadn’t realized it, but through all those years of attending church and praising Jesus with my mouth, I had never really given Him my heart.  I thought I had.  I had convinced myself that trying to say and do all the right things meant that I loved the Lord. I substituted knowing a lot about Him for truly knowing and loving Him…and then I wondered why I wasn’t experiencing any of the wonderful promises found in His Word!  I was guilty of Matthew 15:8, “These people honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far from Me.”

Dear one, His power is in His presence. Above all else, He wants us to know Him. He longs for sweet fellowship with us. And as we accept His invitation to spend time with Him in His Word and in prayer, He reveals Himself… and grace begins to do its work.

I encourage you to press in for God’s best. Don’t settle for allowing Jesus to remain a distant God who deserves worship but is not known.  Knowing Him is EVERYTHING.
